About me

Dr. János Lipovics lawyer and member of the Budapest Bar Association.

I studied law at the Faculty of Law of Pázmány Péter Catholic University, graduating cum laude in 2013. My studies focused on criminal law, and I wrote my thesis on the death penalty and life imprisonment, entitled “The most severe punishment”. After graduation, I worked as a trainee lawyer in the law office of my former university teacher, the nationally renowned and respected criminal lawyer Dr. Balázs Móritz, and after passing my exams with distinction, I established an independent practice in 2018.

During my career, I have been actively involved in the resolution of hundreds of cases, typically criminal, acting as a defence counsel or victim’s advocate. My clients include private individuals, small, medium and large companies, social organisations, health and educational institutions, and even – and this is a great honour – fellow lawyers. I communicate fluently in English with my foreign clients.

In addition to my work in criminal law, I have a number of regular clients and regularly provide legal services to domestic and international clients in the field of civil law.

Introduction

Dr. János Lipovics lawyer and member of the Budapest Bar Association.

I studied law at the Faculty of Law of Pázmány Péter Catholic University, graduated cum laude in 2013.

In addition to my work in criminal law, I have a number of regular clients and regularly provide legal services to domestic and international clients in the area of civil law.

I believe that being a lawyer is not a job, but a profession, where the main objective is to protect the interests of the client. I am convinced that the key to success in the 21st century lies in the harmony between the classic values of the lawyer – precision, expertise, trust – and the requirements of the times – creativity, speed and flexibility. That is why I believe it is important for a lawyer not to approach a problem solely as a lawyer, because the classical, purely legal approach may not in itself lead to the expected result. The creative and, where appropriate, interdisciplinary approach to the problem in question may also be important, since the key to success may be the development of a legal construct not previously used or the involvement of a private expert or private investigator.

My clients can expect fair and honest information at all times, so of course I will also let them know if a case is not likely to succeed or if another colleague is more comfortable in the area.

In addition to my work as a lawyer, social responsibility is important to me. As part of this, in 2019 we launched the “Law-OK” programme, a series of lectures for secondary school students, which aims to help one of the most vulnerable and at-risk age groups (and their teachers) to find their way around the mysteries of law and criminal law, the maze of rights and obligations, in a simple way, with the aim of making young people more law-conscious and less likely to become victims or perpetrators of crime.
